Pay Day Haul

I got paid on Tuesday and on Thursday... I had spent every penny. I am now poor but I do have lots of new goodies to show for my 'eating rice for a month' month.

I went up to Edinburgh on Tuesday to catch up with my best friend Danielle who moved to Abi Dhabi in January. We went to Yo Sushi for lunch and then had a good browse around the Harvey Nicks make up counters. I went to the Space NK counter and impulse bought the Nars Tinted Moisturiser and the Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray. I have been using these products every day since so will post a review soon.

In Superdrug I bought the Sleek Contour Kit which I am wearing today for the first time and I am loving it. I also got the Barry M High Shine Jelly in Satsuma which I am wearing while I type.

While I was in Edinburgh I also hit the Flagship Topshop store. I got these amazing shorts and this black vest.

Looks Good Enough to Eat

I thought I would do a wee foody post because I have had some delicious and interesting meals recently.

When I went to Aberdeen for the weekend, my friends and I went to Revolution for cocktails and lunch which was delicious! The waitress recommended these cocktails which were delicious! (I can not remember their name though! sorry!)

The morning after our big night out in Aberdeen, Tasha and I went to Frankie and Benny'f for breakfast. I have my favourite, Eggs Benedict and Tasha had a massive fry up! These photo's are making me very hungry!

These desserts are from an Italian restaurant called Strada in Edinburgh. My friend Suzanne and I went up for a classy dinner where we dressed up and had shots! I had the panacotta and suz had the chocolatiest dessert ever!

Last night, My friend Sarah and I went to the Queens Head in Kelso for dinner, drinks and a major catchup! We had the fish cakes for dinner which I unfortunately do not have a photo of because they were amazing! But I did take a few snaps of our desserts! Raspberry and chocolate chip cheesecake! mmmmmm I could actually eat one of these right now!

My final delicious meal that I photographed was my breakfast this morning. Banana Love.

My First Glossybox

So I have been a bit naughty and subscribed to the beauty craze Glossybox, a little late on the bandwagon here but I have been trying really hard to save my money. However, I figured £10 (+p&p) a month is nothing for some beauty treats that come straight to my door! The first beauty box I received was the May one which came some pretty amazing treats. For my first ever Glossybox I was impressed.

Your Glossybox comes beautifully packaged and it holds 5 beauty samples. My box also came with some Glossybox emery boards.

I have not tried out any of the products yet but will do a wee review when I have.

This is a photo of my cheeky pup Alfie. He chewed up the box before I managed to get a hold of it!

April Beauty Favourites

This is my first favourites post so I thought I would show you all my favourite make-up items at the moment. Buying new make-up is one of my favourite things to do and I used to spend my lunch half hour at the John Lewis make-up counters.

When I was up in Aberdeen my aim was to find the perfect day time foundation that gave the wearer that dewy, healthy glow. I found the new Clinique CC cream and loved it instantly. It cost me £28 and I got it in the shade 'Light.' Would recommend  this to everyone!

My second favourite is the Brow Zings kit from Benefit in 'Light' which costs £23.50. I get a wax and tint from Benefit every month and the girl at the counter recommended this product for my brows! I LOVE IT.

I love ALL Soap and Glory products so I could not wait to try their make-up. I got the Thick and Fast Mascara(£10.50) and the Kick Ass Concealer (£10) (and a lip gloss) on a 3 for 2 offer and I have witnessed great things from both these products. The Thick and Fast Mascara has a thick bristly brush which I prefer to the plastic wands and gives me Thick voluminous lashes ;). The Kick Ass Concealer is a three step system with a cream highlighting concealer for under eyes and your nose, a thicker concealer for hiding blemishes andddd a translucent powder to set the concealer.

My favourite eye shadow quad right now is the Chanel Mystic Eyes Ombres Quadra Eye Shadow. (£38) It gives you the choice of wearing a natural eye look or a smoky eye which is why I love this palette.

I have heard a lot of hype from the Superdrug brand Sleek so I purchased this Blusher in Rose Gold (£4.50) and it is the most amazing pigmented blush colour. It is the perfect mix of pink and coral with some gold shimmer. I always look like I have glowing skin when I wear this blush.

My final Favourite is the YSL Rouge Volupte Lipstick in Peach Passion, Number 13. (£24.50). It is the loveliest coral lip colour which is more orange than pink but as my absolute favourite colour is Orange it is my favourite lipstick. It is very moisturising on the lips which can mean that you do have to reapply a few times throughout the day but it is worth it.

Makeover Essentials... Deal or no Deal?

So one day I was working away, when I noticed this little pop up sales stand outside the shop. The reps were selling (very convincingly) products from a make-up brand called Makeover Essentials. Basically the reps showed you the products and let you smell and swatch and test the make-up and when you were totally hooked they let you in on the secret that the whole lot would only cost you £30 for £160 worth of make-up. The set included a double ended mascara, bronzer and two different make-up palettes that included, eye shadows, powders, blushers, lip glosses and the brushes. The sets looked amazing and I am not one to turn down such an amazing deal. (I couldn't stop thinking about the make-up and I knew I wouldn't be happy till I had it in my possession.)

This wee palette is the Beauty Diary and retails at $54.99. This is the item that I liked the most when the rep was persuading me to part with my pennies. I loved all the colours that this palette had to offer, especially the blushes. When I got this home to have a closer look I found that the colours of the blushes and the eye shadows were know where near as pigmented as they were when the rep showed me. So I was a little disappointed but the lip glosses are really nice and have a really nice non-sticky consistency. The big mirrors are the reason I will still be storing this in my handbag.

This is the Personalised Custom Compact and it is $32.99. This palette has eye shadows and lip glosses and a fancy wee feature where you can take them out. This would be good if you were going on a night out and just wanted to take a few colours with you. This compact has a mini compact within it which you can take out and take on your night out or whatever. The pigmentation of the eye shadows were also disappointing but maybe if I wet my brush a little?

The bronzer is something I could have left behind tbh... I am very pale and this bronzer just doesn't work at all. It offers more of a bronze/gold shimmer than a bronzed look. I just was not a fan of this product. the brush bristles were not soft and came out a lot. It is called the Shimmer Brush and costs $29.99 which I think is a complete waste of money.

This is the Mascara Duo and costs $27.99 which I think is crazy for a mascara. The mascara is okay but I would not swap my favourite Clinique High Impact mascara for it. The mascara has a priming conditioning side and a black volume adding mascara.

This is the swatches for the lip glosses which I did like.

Overall.... as I got all these products for £30 I am not going to complain too much but if I do not think I would pay the individual prices for each item. The sales rep did say that they should be selling this brand in John Lewis and Debenhams soon and that they are a high end luxury brand that are in competition with the likes of Estee Lauder and YSL. I liked trying out the products and I love a bargain but I don't think the quality is all that great!
